When we treat people merely as they are, they will remain as they are. When we treat them as if they were what they should be, they will become what they should be.

One way of helping your staff to succeed in their jobs is to increase the expectation of your subordinates’ level of efficiency and performance. Subordinates should be encouraged that the harder they work for something, the greater they will feel when they achieve it. They should concentrate all their thoughts upon the work in hand because the sun rays do not burn until brought to a focus.

Since a person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected, subordinates would like to hear that people like them make work a much nicer place to be and that there is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.

Managers should never confuse activity with accomplishment. Therefore they should always remind subordinates that someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, encourage them to laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding themselves that everything happens for a reason.

The real competitive advantage in any business is one word only which is “people”.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not act but a habit.
