People don’t get promoted for doing their job really well; they get promoted by demonstrating their potential to do more.
-Tara Jaye Frank
Once an employee is recruited, he/she is given a job description. Job description set boundaries of action and thought which has the tendency to restrict curiosity among employees.
Steve Jobs said “It doesn’t make sense to hire smart and then tell them what to do; we hire smart people to tell us what to do”
A dynamic organization must hire thinking and curious people because curiosity leads to eagerness to break new grounds for the interest of the organization. Organizations will do better if employees are eager to learn and not afraid to take risks. Such employees make intelligent mistakes in the pursuit of excellence.
Therefore in hiring people, you would have to make curiosity a more important criterion
By stretching yourself beyond your perceived level of confidence, you accelerate your development of competence.
